10.25x69R Hunting Express ( Lorenz #214)
This cartridge was introduced In Germany in and about 1880 period. It was a Large Bore caliber appox .403 -.405 . It was mostly used in european made single shot and double rifles. this was in competition with the english made double rifles. In that time frame African hunting was very popular . Ammunition was made By DWM to meet the need for the Euro Hunters. it remained available in The DWM catalogue up untl 1904
It is similar in power as the 450/400 Nitro express. . The cartridge was similar in power as the 375 H&H magnum..
Rifles in this caliber are scarce in the United states. They do come up for auction Time to time. It has been noted that many Remington Rolling Blocks were chamber for this caliber and Martini’s as well
