17.8x35R Tabatiere

The French Tabatiere Rifle was designed in appox 1866. The action of the Tabatiere was fitted to older Muzzle-Loader rifles , by cutting off the barrel @ the breech. It was patented after the snider oF 1869. The cartridge is based on a 12 gauge Brass shotshell shortened and Re-necked. This cartridge is considered a 69 Caliber and will take a .720 Round ball or Conical Bullet.

Some earlier version were based on paper wrapped shells with a shot gun base. This is a boxed primed case France discontinued this case in 1874 and was replaced by the Gras system 11x59R Gras
