40-70 (40/63) Ballard

The 40-70 Ballard was the factory version of the older 40-63 everlasting case. This was used by Marlin Firearms after the purchase of Ballard in 1881. It was originally used in the Ballard Perfection #4 and the Pacific #5 rifle. The Ballard rifle was one of the premier Target Rifle in the USA.. Predominately used as a Target or match rifle. The cartridge had a good reputation as a long range hunter

The performance is basically the same as the 40-70 Sharps Straight or the 40-70 winchester
